Elizabeth Melton Parsons is a freelance writer of both fiction and nonfiction for newspapers and magazines, reviewer, and award winning poet. An English major she was born in the state of Michigan and grew up  dividing  her time between Michigan and South Florida. As a child she loved the Everglades in South Florida and still misses the ocean. Having lived in so many interesting places and getting to know such a diverse range of people while growing up sparked her imagination and gave her an endless supply of characters to draw from.

Elizabeth was born the 5th child of six, with four brothers and one sister. Her parents were hardworking farmers who instilled in her a love of the rural life and faith in God. Elizabeth always loved books, learning to read before starting school. After reading poems by Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allen Poe at the age of 12, she began to write her own poetry and short stories. She did her writing at night, shoving the hand written copies into a box under her bed. With the support and encouragement of her real life hero, her husband Garland, she began writing full time and gained success as both a freelancer and poet. Her poetry is featured in school syllabuses and published in textbooks.

Elizabeth loves writing romantic tales interwoven with intrigue, mystery,  suspense, and the paranormal. Participating in various writing groups and workshops has helped to define her realistic and unique style that has come to be known and loved both nationally and internationally. Her newest releases are the best selling romance titled BLACK ROCK: A TIME FOR LOVE, WINTER OF THE HEART, and the non-fiction LIZZIE AND THE BOY'S CLUB. Coming soon will be a book dedicated to all those who provide shelter to the homeless, an anthology of poetry and short stories by Elizabeth and other authors titled WHISPERING SPRING. All profits will be donated to family shelters. When not writing, reviewing or indulging her other passions of painting and gardening, she loves hiking the hills around her hometown with her family and their boxer, Charlie.
