My Friend Charlie

At times I reflect on life without Charlie.

A dreadfully boring life it was to me.

My hardwood floors were mirror bright.

Visitors could come and go without a fright.

No losing sleep from snores all through the night.

No tug of war and growling fights.

What did I do before I had to clean drool from the walls?

No tripping over toys on the floor in the hall.

Yes, life was boring way back then

before I met my loving friend.

The way he comes and lays his head in my lap.

His silly growls and moans make me laugh.

The way I feel safe from all fright

as he guards me throughout the night.

His unconditional love for me and mine.

The way his big eyes shine

with adoration as he looks at me.

Yes, my life was boring indeed

before I fell in love with big ole silly Charlie.
