Father's Day

Hands, so big, so rough, so gentle,

The scent of aftershave in the air,

The feeling of complete safety

When you’re there.

Memories of fishing

And picnics in the park,

Of camping and hiking

Or just out for a lark.

Your gentleness when you

Kiss away the hurt

And soft laughter as we

Plant flowers in the earth.

We don’t always see eye to eye.

My ten o’clock curfew really must go.

My friends are my friends

And my clothes are my clothes.

I know that you only want

What’s best for me.

Your love is always there,

For all the world to see.

Today is the day

For fathers like you.

For us to show appreciation

For all that you do.

And to say...I Love You!

And I do!
