E. G. Parsons     Volume No. 2      Issue No. 3       Date: June 2007

The weather here was almost too fabulous for words. Sunny days in the 70's-80's and very cool clear nights. Now it has turned hot and dry. We've had no rain for almost three weeks. I've been trying to get the gardens weeded and new plants in. With no rain, I'm not sure how many will live. I water, but it's not the same. There's still so much to do here both inside and out, it's a little overwhelming, but we're getting there.

A very warm welcome to my new subscribers. Just a reminder that the contest winner will be chosen this month and I'll be in contact with the winner in July. Good luck to all of you who entered. I want to let everyone know that my romantic suspense novel Captive Fear is now available as a free e-book download. If you know anyone who may be interested, pass the link along.   http://www.lulu.com/content/317287

News:

I was hoping to have some definite news on Black Rock ~ A Time for Love. Unfortunately the publisher who requested the full manuscript in January hasn't gotten back to me yet. For those who aren't familiar with the submission process, it can be dreadfully slow. Four months is actually considered a short time period to wait. For us authors waiting to hear a yes or a no...it can be excruciating. I'll be posting any news on this book and others at my site as soon as I know anything. My newest book Shadow of Rachel will be ready for submission as soon as I finish the rewrites. An author friend of mine in New York was kind enough to critique the first three chapters and point out a few things that needed changing--for which I'm extremely grateful. Thank you Jean. Jean's newest book (Waiting for the Rain) will be released in August from Champagne Books and I'm posting the info here along with a blurb for Shadow of Rachel. Having read the first chapter of Waiting for the Rain--I can tell you that you don't want to miss it!

Shadow of Rachel by Elizabeth Melton Parsons

Brutalized by a man she can never love, Megan Connors flees her Virginia home to start a new life as a schoolteacher on a South Carolina ranch. Steeped in the serenity of her new surroundings, Megan feels her dreams of a good life are finally coming true. Indeed, life would be perfect if not for her infuriatingly rude employer, the wealthy ranch owner Charles Donovan. On the night of her arrival, Megan hears a baby’s cries drifting through her open window, followed by an eerie lullaby and she soon discovers the chilling secret behind Charles’ grim existence.

Determined to help Charles free himself from the ghosts of his past, Megan soon finds herself a target for the wrath of another who stakes a claim to Charles’ love. Megan must defeat a powerful enemy and confront the demons of her own past, if she and Charles are to find happiness and escape the dark shadow that falls across them both.

Susan Krontz:

I am a 49-year-old housewife residing in Michigan with my husband Ray, and our two dogs, a Chihuahua named Smokey Joe, and English Setter named Artie.

I have lived in Calif., Oregon, Washington, Texas, and now here.

I have two grown sons and two stepsons and between my husband and myself we share 12 grandchildren.

Writing has always been an outlet for me, although it has just recently been something I have started sharing with other people.  I write short stories for my grandchildren mostly, although I have been considering trying to get one of them published.

After the death of my oldest son five years ago, I found writing poetry a good way to express my feelings, a kind of therapy for me I suppose.

In my spare time besides writing, I enjoy gardening, fishing with my husband, reading and doing all sorts of crafts.  I travel to Texas, by train, twice a year, to visit my parents and my grandchildren. I love the adventure of it and am an avid people watcher.  I am fascinated by the people I meet and the stories that each one has to tell.

I am constantly looking for new things to learn about and to do and would like to maybe go back to college and take some writing and photography classes. And one day, I want to learn to fly!

Rainbows & Daffodils

I may not have much money

Or a house upon the hill.

I don't drive a fancy car,

I doubt I ever will.

There's nothing saved for a rainy day,

No nest egg stashed away.

But the treasure's that I do have

Keep growing every day.

I have all the precious gems I need,

In my children's eye's of blue

My gold is in the noonday sun

My liquid assets in the morning dew

I don't know a thing about dividends,

Don't give a fig about profit sharing

Who needs all of that anyway?

I have friends both loving and caring!

So sit there in your fancy house,

Just you and your portfolio

Mine is a treasure that goes with me

Wherever I may choose to go

It's a lifetime of smiles and memories,

Of rainbows and daffodils.

Just keep all your fancy stuff

I have no need for diamonds or frills.

For I am far richer, my friend,

Then I ever dreamt I would be.

Take a good look around you,

God has been good to me.

Through The Eyes Of A Child

The years have passed so quickly,

And not all of them have been kind

Your hands are fragile & shaking,

But that's not the man I see in my mind.

I see you standing straight & tall,

A mighty sight to behold.

Someone who was always there for me,

Whether to comfort or to scold.

Did you know that you were my hero?

And you are still to this day.

The love, the laughs, the memories,

No one can ever take away.

I hope you know how much I love you.

I guess I should have said it more.

But you'll always be my Daddy.

The man that I adore.

Amanda Quick ~ The River Knows

The River Knows by Amanda Quick

Hardcover: 368 pages (May 2007)

Putnam: ISBN 0399154175
From luxurious ballrooms to the dark and dangerous streets where prostitutes and brothels thrive, Amanda Quick has given us another superb romantic suspense novel set in Victorian London.

Louisa has no idea she's about to be caught by an armed guard while searching the bedroom of Elwin Hastings until she's drawn into the shadows and kissed by Anthony Stallbridge. The ruse of having an illicit affair saves them from the guard and they decide to join forces to bring to justice a man involved in prostitution and blackmail. Hastings may also be responsible for the deaths of several young women believed to have thrown themselves into the river. Although Louisa can't believe Anthony has any true romantic notions about her, it isn't just Anthony's curiosity for her eccentricity that's aroused. When Louisa's secret past comes to light, will it mean the end of their relationship and the gallows for Louisa? Interesting characters, dangerous fog shrouded nights and passion filled afternoons makes The River Knows another fabulous read from this talented author.

Amanda Quick is one of many pseudonyms used by Jayne Ann Krentz, the author of over 40 New York Times bestsellers. There are more than 30 million copies of her books in print. Visit her web site at http://www.amandaquick.com
