Sample Press Release
The following link goes to a sample press release I wrote for the release of my new book, Black Rock: A Time For Love.
I'm not an expert on press releases, but I put this here as an example to follow because of the many questions I've received on how to write one. Simple alterations can make it usable for any book launch or event. (even those non-related to writing). Just be sure to answer all the 'W' questions: Who, What, When.
Remember to only use the immediate release date if you want the release to run immediately, otherwise use "For Release" and put the date you do want it to be run. Once you have it written, send it to media sources in your area such as radio stations (especially talk radio), newspapers, TV--if you're having an event you think they'd be interested in covering, and submit it to online services like PR web and others. When you submit to the internet press release services, I'd be cautious of giving phone numbers. There will be a lot of people reading them on the net. The format will have to be changed for the online PR services. They all have their own formats.
