Spring Issue
E. G. Parsons Volume No. 3 Issue No. 6 Date: March 2008
Royal purple crocus and sunny yellow daffodils...they're blooming all over, although our weather has been far from spring like. I know where there is a field full of daffodils free for picking and today I plan to take my son and pick enough to fill the house with the cheerful blossoms. There's nothing quite like them for lifting the spirits and washing away the winter blahs. For those of you who are new to my newsletter--a very warm welcome. Elizabeth

News:

Black Rock: A Time For Love was released in e-book format on January 25, 2008 and is available wherever e-books are sold. I have direct links to a few places at my site. I want to thank all my readers who helped make it a bestseller on both Fictionwise and Amazon during the first three weeks of release. I'm extremely grateful for your support. The print format will be released this coming July and I'll have more on that in my July newsletter along with any scheduled events.
Contest:
My newest contest is a little different. I'll be guest blogging at Marianne Arkins' blog, "Reading, Writing, & Stuff That Makes Me Crazy" on July 30, 2008. All you have to do is read my post and leave a comment. Then email me here and tell me. Your name will be put in a drawing for a signed print copy of Black Rock: A Time For Love. I'll put a reminder of this contest in the July newsletter and it's listed on the contest page of my site.
My Review of Heatherfield:

Where her heart is, there will she be also ...
Deep in a box of used books, counselor Tory Sasser comes across a novel without an ending: Heatherfield. As she reads the story of scarred war veteran, Jake Benjamin, her tears fall on the pages—and she could swear new words appear where once there was nothing. But the fictional town of Heatherfield isn’t all it seems, nor is its creator, Destiny Paige. When Tory’s car runs off the road into the mist, she’s transported back to the 1940s—into the novel, trapped by the spirits that govern the place through Destiny. Even more, Tory is caught by the honest warmth and complicated tenderness that is Jake Benjamin. Realizing she’s falling in love with Jake, Tory is desperate to find her way back home to reality. Yet what is more real than true love? No, Heatherfield isn’t all it seems ... not at all.
When I first saw the cover art and read the blurb for M. Jean Pike's new book, "Heatherfield", I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy. It did not disappoint. Ms. Pike has woven a tale that puts you on the edge of your seat and keeps you there, as you are transported into the world that is Heatherfield. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough and sat reading all night to finish. The most beautifully written, paranormal love story of our times. The chilling paranormal aspect adds to the suspense and will leave you panting for more from this brilliant author. The surprise ending is wonderfully done and I'd have been sadly disappointed had it ended any other way. Well done, Ms. Pike. I'll be anxiously awaiting your next release. http://www.freewebs.com/mjeanpike/

Great truths about life that adults have learned
1. Raising teenagers is like nailing Jell-O to a tree.
2. There is always a lot to be thankful for if you take the time to look. For
example: I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.
3. One reason to smile is that every seven minutes of every day someone in an
aerobics class pulls a hamstring.
4. Car sickness is the feeling you get when the monthly payment is due.
5. The best way to keep kids at home is to make a pleasant atmosphere and let
the air out of their tires.
6. Families are like fudge....mostly sweet, with a few nuts.
7. Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
8. Laughing helps. It's like jogging on the inside.
9. Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.
10. My mind not only wanders; sometimes it leaves completely.
11. If you can remain calm, you just don't have all the facts.
